Tribune golfers take first, second over weekend
MCC wins in Corning, places runner-up at Naz outing.
MENDON, NY - The MCC golf team had a successful weekend, taking first in the Corning Red Barons Invitational before placing second in the Nazareth College Invite.
The team had a total score of 312 at Corning Country Club Friday. Brandon Grzywacz (Holley, NY/Holley) led the way with a 76, with Brett Robertson (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) right behind with a 77.
Tyler Hill (Brockport, NY/Brockport) fired a 78, and Jered Maloney (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) and Zach Tuttle (Penfield, NY/Penfield) rounded out the scoring with 81s.
The Nazareth event was a two-day tournament, with Saturday's round at Monroe Golf Club and Sunday's at Country Club of Mendon. The Tribunes placed second against four other four-year schools with a total of 630. Roberts Wesleyan won the tournament with a 590.
Hill finished tied for seventh with a two-round total of 156. That included a 1-under 71 on Saturday at Monroe. Maloney (79-79), Robertson (78-80), and Grzywacz (76-82) all tied for 12th at a 158.
