Dobesh medals as MCC finishes fourth at nationals
The sophomore is the second straight Tribune to win individual national title.
CHAUTAUQUA, NY - Shane Dobesh (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) capped a fantastic tournament with a 1-under 71 to earn overall medalist honors at the NJCAA Division III national tournament at Chautauqua Golf Club.
MCC finished in fourth place in the team standings, with Friday's 306 giving the team a four-day total of 1,246.
Minnesota State Technical and Community College captured the national title with a four-day score of 1,224. Host Jamestown CC was second at 1,242, followed by Louisburg College at 1,244 and Monroe.
Dobesh, the two-time defending Region III champ, put together rounds of 73-74-72-71 to top Rockland CC's Colby Lewis by three strokes. Dobesh is the second straight Tribune golfer to win medalist honors, following Alex McKee a year ago.
Jason Douglas (Spencerport, NY/Aquinas) shot his second straight 76 and finished 26th overall. Nate Barnard (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) shot a 79 Friday, while John Mosca (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) carded an 80. Mosca finished tied for 28th.
