SANBORN, New York - Jamestown Community College pulled away for an 81-75 win over MCC in the quarterfinals of the Region III, Division II men's basketball tournament Friday evening.
The Jayhawks outscored the Tribunes 49-38 over the final 20 minutes to advance to Saturday's semifinals. MCC finishes the season with a record of 16-11.
Monroe led 37-32 at the half before Jamestown embarked on a 12-3 run to open the second half and take the lead. The teams then battled back and forth before a dunk by MCC's Malik Colvin-Seldon tied the game at 63 with 5:06 remaining.
The Jayhawks then responded by scoring the next eight to take command. A pair of buckets by Colvin-Seldon and a 3 from Holden Redparth helped the Tribunes close to within three late, but Jamestown his six straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
