Kehlenbeck, Bomasuto named All-Americans
The duo helped lead the Tribunes to the regional title.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - MCC sophomores AJ Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) and Vinny Bomasuto (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) were named All-Americans by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Kehlenbeck was named a first team catcher, and Bomasuto a second team outfielder. The duo helped lead the Tribunes to a 33-15 record, a No. 9 ranking in the final NJCAA Division II national poll, and the program's 23rd Region III title.
Kehlenbeck finished the season with a .373 batting average, five doubles, three triples, one homer, 18 RBIs, and 37 runs scored. The 2011 Rawlings Gold Glove winner, he also threw out 17 of 32 potential base stealers and had a .986 fielding percentage.
Bomasuto batted a team-high .427 and led the nation with 18 triples. He also added 12 doubles, 41 runs batted in, and had a slugging percentage of .752. Bomasuto also saw time on the mound, going 3-1 with a pair of saves and a 1.71 ERA.
The Tribunes defeated Mercyhurst North East 6-5 on May 5 to claim the Region III championship. MCC advanced to the East District finals before falling to UConn-Avery Point.
