CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - The NJCAA national office announced the student-athletes who have earned distinction on one of three prestigious 2018-19 NJCAA All-Academic Teams following their success in the classroom.
In addition, Region III, and the Western New York Athletic Conference, have announced end-of-the-year academic honors as well.
Monroe Community College was well represented across the board, as 12 student-athletes were lauded for their academic achievement by the NJCAA. In addition, the Tribune softball (3.23), and volleyball (3.08) teams were recognized for attaining cumulative GPAs above 3.0.
The NJCAA gives out awards in three honor categories. Students must complete two full-time semesters and 24 total semester hours with the following GPA benchmarks:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
MCC had 22 student-athletes bring home academic honors from Region III, and 37 from the WNYAC. To be honored by the region, student-athletes must earn 24 hours at a 3.5 GPA. The requirements for WNYAC laurels are 24 hours and a 3.3 GPA.
